Stress: Hushed Killer

Are you frustrated, angry, nervous, or anxious with the situations happening around you? Well, definitely you are already stressed out. Stress is the body’s reaction to a change that requires a physical, mental or emotional adjustment or response. Stress releases powerful neurochemicals and hormones that prepare us for an action (to fight or flee). If we don’t take action, the stress response can lead to health problems. Prolonged, uninterrupted, unexpected, and unmanageable stresses are the most damaging types of stress. According to a study, 99% of all diseases are caused by stress. Stress can be considered a silent killer. Stress affects every level of our lives and impacts us on a mental, physical, emotional and spiritual level. Stress causes the release of hormones and toxins into our bodies that causes our bodies to maintain a fight or flight condition that breaks down the immune system and wreaks havoc in our lives.

Stress management strategies are essential. Learning these enables us to cope with stress and deal with it positively. First thing to do is we must identify the problem to know what part we need to work on. Secondly, we must think of positive thoughts that can turn us back onto the path of happiness and healthiness. Third, we must relax to clear our minds from disturbing thoughts. Lastly, we must get enough sleep because lack of rest just aggravates stress.
